Background

Solar was founded in 1989 and is Poland's oldest and one of its most recognised women's clothing brands. With over 30 years of retail heritage and a loyal customer base across Poland, the company had established a strong omnichannel presence — but its digital experience was falling behind the expectations of an increasingly mobile-first audience. Mobile sessions had grown to represent a majority of traffic, yet the website was not designed to monetise that traffic effectively.

The previous redesign — carried out in 2016 — had produced negative results: a higher bounce rate and lower conversion across the board. This history made the new engagement particularly high-stakes: a repeat of those outcomes would have been commercially damaging and difficult to justify internally.

The Challenge

Solar needed a fully responsive, mobile-first website that could turn growing mobile traffic into revenue. Specific challenges included:

  • The 2016 redesign had damaged trust in digital investment — the new work had to demonstrably perform
  • The marketing team needed to manage listings and content independently, without raising IT tickets
  • The Solar Club loyalty programme needed to be integrated cleanly into the new customer journey
  • The redesign had to cover every layer of the customer journey — from landing pages to product listings to checkout — without disrupting ongoing trading

Our Solution

Divante implemented a heavily customised Magento Luma theme redesign with mobile-first principles applied at every layer. The customer journey was rebuilt end to end: the mega menu, product listing pages, product cards, user account section, and checkout were all redesigned from scratch.

Checkout flows were redesigned based on direct customer survey data — ensuring that changes were grounded in what Solar's actual customers found confusing or friction-laden, not just best-practice assumptions. A custom page builder module was built to give Solar's marketing team full CMS control over listings and promotional content — time-scheduled, versatile content management without IT dependency. The Solar Club loyalty programme was fully integrated into the new storefront experience.

Impact & Results

Within 8 weeks of launch:

  • Revenue grew 70% year-over-year
  • Conversion rate increased by 24%
  • The number of transactions grew by over 27%
  • Mobile conversions grew by over 30%, despite only a 1.5% increase in total mobile traffic — demonstrating that the redesign converted existing mobile visitors far more effectively, not just attracted new ones
  • All indicators improved compared to the pre-redesign period
