Why do you need to migrate from SAP Accelerator?

SAP Accelerator is a deprecated, JSP-based frontend that makes modern commerce delivery slower, riskier, and harder to upgrade. It keeps frontend and backend concerns tightly coupled, which increases release effort and limits the customer experience your team can deliver.

Migrating to SAP Composable Storefront, Alokai, or a custom headless frontend gives you a supported architecture, faster storefront performance, cleaner API boundaries, and a path to evolve SAP Commerce Cloud without carrying legacy frontend debt forward.

Migration options

Choose the right path from SAP Accelerator.

SAP Composable Storefront

Move to the official Angular-based storefront for SAP Commerce Cloud with B2C and B2B feature coverage, OCC API integration, and upgrade-safe delivery patterns.

Alokai storefront

Adopt a composable frontend that connects SAP Commerce Cloud with CMS, search, payment, and personalisation services through a headless architecture.

Custom headless frontend

Build a bespoke storefront for complex business requirements, custom design systems, and integration-heavy B2B or multi-market commerce.

Migration steps.

01

Audit and strategy

Review your SAP Commerce version, Accelerator customisations, integrations, analytics, SEO footprint, and release constraints to choose the right migration path.

02

Architecture and roadmap

Define the target frontend architecture, OCC API boundaries, phased rollout plan, feature parity scope, and technical dependencies before implementation starts.

03

Storefront implementation

Build the new storefront with reusable components, SAP Commerce integrations, performance budgets, accessibility standards, and test automation from the start.

04

Validation and migration

Validate feature parity, SEO redirects, analytics, checkout flows, B2B workflows, and integration behavior before moving traffic to the new experience.

05

Launch and optimisation

Release safely, monitor conversion and performance, stabilise operations, and leave your team with a documented upgrade path.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before we talk.

Why migrate from SAP Accelerator now?
SAP Accelerator is no longer the strategic frontend direction for SAP Commerce Cloud. Staying on it increases upgrade friction, limits frontend performance, and makes modern customer experience work slower than it needs to be.
Do we need to replace SAP Commerce Cloud?
Not necessarily. Many teams keep SAP Commerce Cloud as the commerce backend and replace only the Accelerator frontend with SAP Composable Storefront, Alokai, or a custom headless storefront.
Which migration option should we choose?
SAP Composable Storefront is often the safest SAP-aligned path. Alokai is a strong option for composable multi-service stacks. A custom frontend fits complex UX, B2B, or multi-market requirements. We recommend after an audit of your current platform and roadmap.
Can we migrate in phases?
Yes. We usually recommend a phased approach with feature parity checkpoints, controlled rollout, and monitoring so the legacy storefront can remain live while the new experience is validated.
What happens to existing customisations?
We classify each customisation as keep, rebuild, replace with native functionality, or retire. This prevents carrying unnecessary Accelerator-era technical debt into the new frontend.
Will SEO and analytics be preserved?
They are part of the migration scope. We map URL structures, redirects, metadata, tracking, consent flows, and analytics events before launch validation.
Can you support us after launch?
Yes. We provide post-launch stabilisation, performance optimisation, SAP Commerce support, and ongoing frontend development capacity.
