Last Monday, March 14th 2016, we had a pleasure to attend the first Meet Magento conference in Sweden. As a proud Silver Partner of this event we’ve been looking forward it for a long time – it’s been our first event in Sweden ever!

We arrived at Stockholm on the weekend before the conference and even though we expected gusts of cold wind and Kraken coming out of the water, Stockholm greeted us with beautiful, sunny weather. Although we didn’t have much time we managed to visit the City Hall, where Nobel prizes are handed out, enjoy a costume party in the Warner Bros building and try to some delicious Swedish dishes.

The conference started on Monday morning with a great opening speech by Jonas Wärngård, the host of Meet Magento Sweden and a member of Nordic Web Team – we saw all the people who spent a lot of hours making this event come true and also got a quick introduction to Swedish eCommerce market. During nineteen further speeches divided into two panels (business and technology) we especially enjoyed three of them:

Internationalization – How to Step Up a Gear Towards World Domination‘ by Sïmon Saneback , well-recognized figure within the Scandinavian e-commerce industry and a frequent keynote speaker around Europe. His presentation covered all problems that may occur during internationalizations and gave us some ideas how to go global smoothly.

The case study at by Jarno Vanhatapio, where we’ve learnt about his unusual business model. Jarno shared unique information about sales, conversion, and cooperation with the ambassadors and its results. He also highlighted how important mobile is for eCommerce business.

And of course we were also very interested what our CTO Piotr Karwatka had to say about Magento Scalibility, where he presented some general rules on how to design high-performance web applications and build them in simple iterative steps. As an example he used Divante’s latest case study of Magento B2B implementation where all those rules were applied. We could learn from the trenches!

The whole event took place at Quality Globe Hotel and beside great knowledge part we enjoyed ice-cream & popcorn machines (which might seem like a strange combination but we loved it!) as well as playing ping-pong in the free time and taking pics with animated gifs in the photo-booth. We also had fun during the afterparty, where we enjoyed a good meal and culture quiz. It was a great experience to meet so many inspired people in one place! It was a perfect ending to a perfect event, and at this point we would like to thank the organizers for creating such a great atmosphere and Jonas for being such an awesome host. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for the next edition to happen really soon.

And now we’re heading to Meet Magento Czech Republic! See you there?
